    HI Tim,

All analog snake cable I've ever used has foil shielding around every pair. That is why we use heat shrink on the fan outs to protect the foil. And since each pair is a balanced signal, the interference gets cancelled at the end anyways. Interference isn't the issue - the blatant assumption by the lighting guy that I would always have a spare send for him is. So in the end, I heartily agree with you - have the lighting people run their own cabling, wireless, or whatever.

As klarkteknik wrote, AES50 is a 100Mbit ethernet. And this using 2 pairs.
    is it right?
And if is it right, you have free two pairs. Need to test it.
AES50 needs both pairs. One pair for audio and one pair for the clocking.
In a nutshell: It won't work.

Sorry, if I haven't made myself clear enough.
Four lines for audio and four for the clocking - no lines left.

And add a power line, so that your S16 and the X32 are always powered by the same power circuit:-)
Myself I don't care about DMX, so I might build a snake with this cable-->

hm, not always. I have powered by different lines, but from the one 3phase power rack, from one place.

Gepco already has 2 pair and 4 pair cat 5 snake cable. They also have the RunOne cable, which is 2 110 ohm digital audio cable with 14/3 power under the same jacket. I believe they also have a version with cat 5 and power.
