Question about XENYX Q1202USB

Hi, Can someone please give me some advice on how to overdub recording with this mixer? Can it be done with this USB mixer? I have one track recorded. How can I record onto track 2 while hearing my guitar & track 1 playing while I'm recording onto track 2? Pretty new at this obviously. Thanks for your help...Mike

Hi Mike,

You really need a mixer like the Q1204USB, because it allows you to directly monitor the new track that you are laying down.
This method prevents any kind of latency from happening.

I just bought the same mixer and spent days trying to solve this problem... I didn't know that you can't do this directly through the mixer, but I was beginning to guess it. So I started to look for a software solution in both Audacity and Ardour (on Linux), but latency is obviously a huge issue.
So, after days of messing around with this I just found a workaround. I don't know if you're still dealing with this problem, but maybe this is going to help somebody else, too. I'm now using two pairs of earphones: a regular pair on top of an in-ear pair. I'm playing the previously recorded tracks through the computer output, then I can listen to the live mic through the mixer.

Dear all,

with both mixers you can record while listening to the playback from your DAW. Please follow these steps:

- in terms of latency on windows computers you should download our ASIO driver from our webpage: http://www.behringer.com/EN/Support/...Downloads.aspx
- Audacity on windows will always cause too much latency as it is not able to use the ASIO driver.
- To record parallel to your playback you should press the "USB/2Track to CTRL ROOM" button. So the input signal will be routed through the DAW and can be heard together with the playback from your DAW.
