X1832USB adjusting input levels from USB as a player

We are a drama group just taken delivery of our X1832 and using it to take sound input from a PC via USB (on the back of the desk) along with two microphones and then output through main speakers. We are trying to balance the microphone input levels with that from the USB. We can adjust he microphone levels but cannot seem to find out how to adjust the USB ...

As far as I know you can't play anything through usb unless it's on a flash drive and loaded into the usb recorder.

Hi Nigel,

Your X1832USB does not have a separate volume control for the USB track coming from your computer.

The signal must be controlled with the software on your computer.

I just picked up a X1204USB for essentially the same purpose as you. For theatrical performances. I plan to use the use input for the computer with mics and other input devices.

It appears your board and mine will not allow for the levels to be adjusted at the board. The signal is just passed through the board to the mains. Your volume control will be at the computer software level. I use Show Cue System, which is fantastic cue software... I highly recommend it. It allows great control for master volume, cue volume and pans.

If you want to be able to adjust the computer levels at the board, you would need to run a cable from your speaker out and plug it into a Line In. then you can use the board level but the computer is still outputting sound based on your software settings. This is what we have to do on our board at the board we have at the theatre since it does not have a USB input.

It takes a bit of playing around to get the right levels on the board for the computer to work with mics, but works well once you get it set.
