I'd like to be able to use my practice hand drum pad to play along with MP3's on my laptop. I'm new to computer audio and am having trouble getting my UCA202 working with a practice pad using a standard stick-on piezo contact mike.
I have the contact mike going into a Y connector to R/L RCA plugs into the UCA unit on a Windows 7 box. My Audio Device Manager window shows 5 icons, from top to bottom- Speakers, Behringer USB WDM Audio 2.8.40, ready. The Test button gives sound in the headphones that are plugged into the UCA202. Next is another speaker icon: Speakers, High Definition Audio Device, Default Device. The Test button gives sound in the computer's external stereo speakers. Next is: Headphones, High Definition Audio Device, Not Plugged In. Then there are two icons for Digital Audio (S/PDIF), one is for the CD/DVD player and the other is for the optical Jack.
So far I've been unable to get any audio out of the headphones by playing the practice pad into Windows Recorder. I'm not using an external mixer, just the UCA202 going into a USB jack. I'm not sure how to proceed. Will I need a sequencer/studio recording program? Will I be able to play along with music without needing to be in Record mode? Is there such a thing as a software mixer program? The default Window mixer shows only the optical drive ATAPI S/PDIF device and the external speakers, nothing there for the UCA202.
Basically I just need to be able to hear the practice pad alongside the music from an MP3 file.
