USB in/out and volume control on the X1204USB

As far as I can tell, the signal coming in on the USB cannot be controlled within the X1204USB, which means I have to adjust the volume from the source (computer). Am I wrong in this?

Also, it seems that while the specifications say that the output on the USB is the same as the main channel, if I push the button which routes the USB in to the main channel, the USB out goes silent. Am I doing something wrong?

What this effectively means is that the incoming USB signal can't really be mixed.

Hi Craig,

Thanks for purchasing the X1204USB.
The X1204USB is not a midi controller and cannot control or respond to the faders on your computer screen.
The BCF2000 is a great control surface with motorized faders and buttons that can be mutes solos, transport and much more.

The X1204USB is designed so that any USB playback FROM the computer will go to the main outputs, but will not be routed back to the computer to get re-recorded.
This is to avoid a feedback loop.

If you want to overdub (layer) tracks, you will want to connect your monitor speakers to the Control Room Out, and or use headphones.
In the section labelled SOURCE, press the 2 TR/USB and MAIN MIX buttons, which wil allow you to record a separate track while plaiying back recorded tracks.
