Xenyx Q802USB (unable to monitor when recording)

    Hi All

I have just posted to 'Andy' on this forum who has had a similar problem last year but thought I would ask you all if you could please help with my issue. (FYI: Andy's post was titled 'XENYX Q802USB RECORDING PROBLEMS')

I am simply unable to monitor when recording

I am using my XENYX Q802USB attached (via USB) to my trusty Win XPpro PC running Sonar 6 Producer edition (Cakewalk) It's old, but it's good as they say

I have followed the steps recommended in Andy's posts and I have managed to enable software monitoring (via Sonar) which at best gives me latency on my voice when I try to record a vocal over my pre-recorded music tracks.

I took it 'as read' that the 'USB/2-Track' toggle buttons would allow me to monitor the backing track and new vocal at the same time but sadly this appears not to be the case. I have been struggling through by singing with one headphone side up over my ear which is far from ideal!

Is this a fault with my unit or a known issue?

It seems a shame, but I am about to try imputing the Xenyx in an 'analogue fashion' in to my existing Soundblaster card and see what happens then!

Please let me know if you have any more clues. I would be most grateful

    Many Thanks

    Dan B-)

    Xenyx Q802USB dubbing mix

    Hello Sean,

I'm using the USB to iPad/iPhone for the app Whole World Band and having the same issue as several people. I'm able to hear the Seed (source) recording in order to play along (digital drums in stereo 1/4" track 3) with both USB buttons NOT pressed. I have an input from the iPad headphone jack to track 2 and every configuration I've tried combines both tracks to the output mix through USB (using the Apple Camera Connection adaptor). I need to isolate the track 3 overdub without mixing in the source.

If this unit is unable to do this, and I've seen elsewhere that I need a matrix mixer, then what mixer in the USB line can do it?

    Thanks in advance,

    Richard

    Dear Richard,

I'm not sure if this is the intended operation or not (if something isn't set correctly in the software, on the mixer, etc), so what I would suggest is that you contact our CARE team at care@music-group.com or 1-702-800-8290 to go over any troubleshooting steps with them. Thank you!
