MULTICOM PRO-XL MDX4600 Hum with Gate Use

I have a new setup with a Heil PR40 mic, Mackie 1202-VLZ3 mixer and MULTICOM PRO-XL MDX4600.

If I don't use the send/receive on the mixer, everything sounds great. If I don't use the gate on the compressor/limiter, everything sounds great.

As soon as I get the gate going (which works great) - I get a hum which is picked up when I'm not talking.

Any thoughts? Is this normal? I'm new to this.

After some more testing - the hum only comes from the channels 1 and 2. 3 and 4 are silent.

Should I replace it? I just bought it locally at guitar center.

No this doesn't sound like you're getting normal operation. Make sure you have tested channels 1 and 2, with the known good cables from channels 3 and 4, just to be sure that these channels on the MDX4600 are causing the noise, not the cables. Yes, once you have determined for sure that these two channels on the MDX4600 are causing the sound, you should pursue an exchange or repair.
