Thread: UFX1204 Manual

    Red face UFX1204 Manual

Just bought a UFX1204, and intended to use it for some amateur multitrack recording.
Say - is there a full manual in the works, or is the Quickstart Guide all that will be?

    Regards
    Carl

    Hi Carl,

Welcome to the forum. As far as I know, only the Quickstart Guide is available at this time. Whether a full manual is in the works, I'm not sure of that.

    Dear Carl,

There isn't a full manual at the moment, but that Quick Start Guide actually has a lot of info in it; it's certainly worth checking out. If you have any questions that aren't covered within, feel free to ask them on this forum, PM me, or contact our CARE department at care@music-group.com. Thank you!

    Thank you for responding!
Yes, the Quickstart covers a bit of everything, however it is not very in-depth (naturally...).
Some examples where it would be nice with a little more information is e.g.
    * How to work with the ALT 3-4 "subgroup"? The description "Mute, Solo and output level Knobs for ALT 3-4 bus" is a little vague to me.
    * Line / FW 1-2(3-4) ... how do they work really? What is the difference between FW1-2 and FW3-4? There is very little info on it. I understand this is the return signal from FireWire / USB, but not much more.

I guess I will be able to find out most of the rest by experimenting.

    Regards

    Hi Carl,

I think I can help here.

The Alt 3-4 buttons on each of the channels have a dual purpose. They function as a mute and a re-assignment to the Alt 3-4 bus. In essence it cuts the signal from the Main L/R and redirects it to the Alt 3-4 bus. The Alt 3-4 bus is sort of a simple group bus. But unlike most groups, it is an either/or scenario. A channel can be directed to the Main L/R or the Alt 3-4, not both. The small section with the mute, solo and level allows you to control the output level, mute or solo that output. I had an older Behringer model with that feature, but only used the Mute/Alt 3-4 buttons as mutes - never really found a practical use for the Alt 3-4 bus.

The FW1-2 and the FW3-4 allows you to return tracks 1-2 and 3-4 from your computer via the firewire/USB if the buttons are pushed in. If they are out, then the signals come from the CD/Tape In L/R.

    Hope that helps.
