At our church we now have a Mackie VLZ32 (that is dying), and we're looking at the X32 as our jump into digital I have maybe 30 years of sound support experience but by no means an expert. I've watched dozens of Utube videos and read many articles on the X32. We have a volunteer sound crew, so the big question is...How steep is the learning curve for set-up and operation. What resources are available for set-up. Any help or advice is appreciated.

The learning curve on the X32 isn't very steep at all, especially when comparing to other digital boards. In fact we've designed the X32 to be super intuitive, even for the "analog minded" audio guy! Pretty much all of the features are with 1 or 2 button pushes away, so you can easily find what you're looking for. In other words, there aren't a bunch of menus to dig down. We recommend you get to a local dealer or somewhere you can check it out for yourself. You'll be surprised once you start using one, just how easy it really is!

I recently installed an X32 in a venue with an all old school, low level of audio understanding analog sound crew. They INSTANTLY took to the X32, and have found the transition to be effortless. The manual, of which a hard copy comes with the desk (smart thinking B!) and a pdf version available from the website is concise and simple to understand even for the novice.
I don't work for Behringer and have no affiliation. I've worked on every digital desk out there, the X32 is by far the simplest one to use and get up to speed on. An EXCELLENT choice for anyone upgrading their mixers.
Hi, we just made this same change, first service was last Sunday. We have an all volunteer team as well and migrated from a Mackie SR32.4 VLZ to the x-32. The learning curve isn't real steep but it's not non-existent either. I did quite a bit of research on just about every board available under $15K, but settled on the x-32. You can pretty much just jump in and mix, but it's very different from your Mackie, especially when it comes to how everything sounds. You have quite a bit more control over EQ, dynamics, routing, and effects, so getting set up to sound the way you want takes some time, also digital pre-amps/boards work differently with levels then analog mixers, so finding the right starting point is a bit of trial and error.. I spent about 2 weeks with xControl on my PC just playing around to understand how it worked, reading the user manual will help too and if you browse through the longest forum thread I've ever come across, on Pro Sound Forums (140 pages of posts) you can find answers to just about everything you want to know. The good thing about the x-32 for me is there's a ton of un-tapped capability so I have lots to work on at during rehearsals now. It is a bit of a challenge, but your first foray into digital boards is bound to be any way. They did a good job with the work flow and managing the tons of features, but there is still all that to learn.
So I watched every available video and read every thread I could find and was prepared with prices and questions on my trip to Guitar Center to check out the X32. Turns out I knew more about it than the sales guy. They gave us a great deal...OTD with added 2+yr full coverage warranty and tax for $2779. I spent today setting up the inputs and outputs. Now to install and do the preamps, eq, etc. I'm having a lot of fun!
Hi we made the same change from analog to digital. Never thought we could afford to go digital but the price of the X32 made it possible. We saved enough that we could afford to go out and but some good quality JBL monitor speakers. We have had it maybe a couple of months. I have much to learn on the board, especially how to EQ on the fly. But the board has so many capibilities and you can add them as you learn the board more. So far it has been great and works well with mixing front of house or monitor leves with an ipad. I think you will fall in love with your new board if you have not already.
Hi, don't worry about this. I've made experience only in the analog world and the step into the digital worls was as smooth as imaginable. I've done the first live shows and I even felt better than working with my older analog consoles. Everything is easy to find and the workflow is outstanding. You will love the view buttons, when you make the decision to buy this console. I've worked with many Behringer products in the last years and tried not to get impressed by all the guys saying that Behringer products are not really capable for professional jobs, but this is something I cannot confirm. Shurely this is not true for all products but definitely for the X32. Feel free to contact me for further questions ...
Our Church just moved from a Yamaha LS9 (Digital) to the X32. The Yamaha died after 1.5 years... The X32's sound is much better, the board is easier to operate (all volunteers) and we're very happy with it. Going from Analog to Digital should not be a huge step. The X32 is easy to configure, adjust and operate. From one Church person to another: you can't find a better board.
Disculpen la intromisión, pero siempre me encuentro con el mismo tema. En las iglesias generalmente los operadores son caritativos voluntarios, mucha disponibilidad, poca sabiduría. Es crucial que en una estación tan importante como es el sonido, el lugar lo ocupe un PROFESIONAL dedicado exclusivamente al tema, sea sistema analógico o digital. Cuándo será el día que se entienda que el sonido es un tema serio.
