    C-4 Mic Clips

Just bought the C-4 matched condenser mics, but the clips don't fit the U.S. standard 5/8"-27 thread on my mic stand. Clips have a coarser thread. What's up with that? Any suggestions?

    Dear Tom,

That's strange, they should fit a standard mic stand thread. However, keep in mind that the clip does have an adapter to change it to the smaller size. This is already installed in the mic clip out of the box. You typically have to unscrew the adaptor out of the clip before it will fit on a normal mic stand.

    I hope this helps!

Thanks for your reply, Chris. The clips that were included have no adapters to unscrew. These have a dual sized thread fitting, one 5/8" and the other 3/8" machined deeper in the fitting, and this fitting is press fit into the clip.

I haven't bought any C-4s recently, but I bought two pair shortly after they were released. Yes, without any doubt, the thread pitch is wrong on the 5/8" threads. I tried to push this issue through my dealer who, after several phone calls to Behringer, got no resolution.

The only adapter that comes with them is for the mounting bar to hang 2 mics on one stand.

I finally just bought some aftermarket adapters that screw in to the smaller threads. The things I really dislike about this solution is that while you have black stands and clips, you end up with this shiny chrome adapter reflecting the stage lighting and you have one more piece of hardware to get lost and leave you scrambling while setting up a show.

This is one of those cases where Behringer refuses to acknowledge there is a problem or to do anything to resolve it.

Chris, Have you actually taken one of the C-4 clips out of the box and tried to screw it on to a U.S. microphone stand?

    Hey again,

Unfortunately we don't have a current C-4 new in a box here at the office to inspect. However, it is our understanding that it should fit both 3/8 and 5/8 size mic stands. Typically there should be an adapter already installed which would need to be removed first from the clip to make it fit the larger size. I attached a picture I took of a clip included with a BEHRINGER XM8500. This is what I would expect to see. Sometimes it can be a challenge getting these out. It's common to have to use a quarter, or a larger flat head screw driver to back the adapter out from the clip. It is also possible that your unit didn't even have it included in the box, or it was removed at some point before it was in your possession.

The best thing to do would be to contact our CARE department for further assistance, at 702.800.8290 or care@music-group.com

Here is a picture of the mic clip that shipped with the C-4 next to an adapter. First, you can see that the clip does not contain an adapter, but rather a stepped thread. Then, if you compare the threads in the clip with those in the adapter, you can plainly see that the thread pitch in the clip is too coarse.
