X32 and external MIDI faders
The church I work for has recently purchased an X32 / S16 system. It's fantastic, but also very daunting to older staff and volunteers. We have many mid-week services and meetings where all that is required are between 1 and 4 speech microphones. I believe many HOW will be faced with a similar situation.
I would ideally like to be able to utilize a small, simple midi fader controller (such as the Steinberg CMC-FD) so that once the system is powered, a volunteer doesn't need to directly interact with the X32, just the small fader panel mounted remotely. I think I have read that the X32 doesn't respond to midi fader data: is that correct? If it doesn't, is it planned for a future firmware upgrade?
If midi fader control is a possibility, and addition request is to have the USB socket on the S16 able to support midi controllers.
You are correct in that the X32 does not support midi fader control from an external device such as the CMC-FD. This may be something that will be looked at in future updates.

Hmmm, the p16-m has midi control.
You could route its output to a spare input (i.e. the auxes) and either use the p16-m for mixing directly or by connecting an external midi fader control like the behringer ones.
Mind you that the p16-m is midi-in only so it can't update the fader control.
Thanks for your help.
At a push the p16 solution might work, although it effectively produces a sub-mix which wont allow for individual control of those mixed channels to feed different levels for FoH / hearing loop / foyer and recording systems.
So really, midi control of faders remains the best solution, which could be a real selling point for HoW!
How about it Behringer?
The berries have said that they are going to map midi for remote control. No date is given yet but since this is a huge task I'd be surprised if it were to show up before v2 of the firmware.

What I've set up for mid-week services is the podium mic and wireless mics are each assigned to a DCA in a scene. They recall that scene and all channels/scribble strips go to a blank/black label except those 8 DCAs (podium, 4 wireless, PC, DVD, MP3).
